About

In the Fall of 2002 I started an online forum, in what would become Yahoo Groups, called NSExplore. It attracted people over time, most of whom are interested in exploring and often contributing history and knowledge about Nova Scotia. The forum is a great testament to the power of a group of people to not only be the sum of the group but reflect a synergistic energy. This website has served, over the years, as place where some of the topics and places of interest that have come up in the forum have been presented in a more accesible manner than getting lost in forum messages.

nice site!!! i am very happy there are other adventurers out there that share the same tastes in venues as I do. If it is possible, as an option, could there be a heading for old Acadian sites/foundations/etc…
I ask this because I myself have uncovered a couple areas/foundations. There is a foundation in Mosherville that I have dug around(carefully) and have unearthed bits of glass, pottery, nails and yes even burnt remains of the former dwelling. I know there is a small village in St. Croix that have many foundations.
Also if it is possible to add a link about Pirates in Nova Scotia. As in areas of they may have “put in”. Again I have visited many areas of these swashbucklers that may have been. For example Black Hole Harbour, the mysterious Haunted Falls and the caved in chimmney. Just a suggestion. Ethier way this is a great site and I look forward to displaying some of my own exploits. Cheers

There were two plane crashes in Nova Scotia that did not make your list
Sometime before March 1945, probably 1944, an RCAF plane crashed near Stellarton .I recall my late father taking me to the site .I do remember that there was a military guard there , the plane was intact except there was some damage to the propellar blades and that the pilot survived .According to locals he ran out of fuel .He was based at either Summerside or Debert. There is a highway between Stellarton and Westville and the crash occured west of the railway line that goes to Pictou .
Also in the early fifties , a small plane out of the the Trenton airport , crashed beside the old no.4 hwy at the eastern end of Linacy . The accident killed Conrad Mc Namara and Tommy Roper both from New Glasgow .The were both pilots and it was not determined who was at the controls .
