Map by Marc Lescarbot

This map was drawn in 1609 by Marc Lescarbot, one of Champlain's companions at Port Royal, and shows the areas of Canada that had been explored up to that time. Notice the St. Lawrence River, which is here called "Rivière de Canada," and the village depicted at the place where city of Montreal was later to rise.
